The BED Intramurals is not a way to get out of neither the teaching nor studying. We give chances for children to develop their camaraderie and sportsmanship.
Instead of getting stuck in the four corners of the classroom, we let them expose for the outside learning environment. Thus, they will realize that learning is not just a pen-and-paper or memorization; it is also in a form of socialization as how you take part in the group.
December 1. From the start of December, all the time were allotted for practice… practice and practice. I let the Bellflower Dancers to practice so that during the presentation, they will surely dance gracefully.
During the vacant time, we played ‘Guess the Word’. This helps me to manage their behavior not to make any noise. Somebody will pass the word to the next by simply acting out what the word is.
In the afternoon, my students attended the Seminar for Food Awareness sponsored by a certain group of nursing students. All the pupils get bored. The presentation was for adult audience. Hence, some of them become uninterested. According to the speaker, the organizer did not inform her that there will be children.
December 2. It was the Athletics Games for Intermediate level. The primary grade spent their time preparing for the Mass Demo for the BED Intramurals. We were in front of our students to instruct them the right steps.
We were all busy. During vacant time, we fixed and finished the Bulletin for Faculty and Staff of the Elementary Department.
December 3. It marks the Opening of the BED Intramurals. The most fascinating presentation was the Mass Demo (Kinder, Grade 1, 2 and 3). The primary levels including Kindergarten competed for the different games like ‘Kadang-kadang’, sack race, Nips relay, water relay, word relay, etc. The Grade 2 pupils won most of the games.
Do you think the children will not learn out of those wonderful experiences? Of course, they will. The learning experiences from those events and games are imprinted in their minds. They learn the value of sports and camaraderie among the group. They value themselves, others and the group.
For student teachers, it is one way to develop our sport management skills. When we will be in our actual field of teaching, we will surely be exposed in this scenario. It is a big help for us.
