It was the Third Quarter Finals. I was there to guide my pupils. I knew that they needed me much. They were free to ask me some questions and clarifications which they never did to their adviser. Ma’am Yen was so strict; however, her strictness does not have a match of warm heart for her pupils. Once the pupils were done answering the tests, she will only collect it.
In my case, I was not like her. My pupils approached me to ask questions on each test items like how to answer them (clarifying the instruction). That is how my pupils know me, I am also strict yet I am approachable.
While I was managing the class during their examination, I was busy designing the bulletin for the Faculty and Staff of the Elementary Department. We helped each other. Some were designing the room.
As the President of the Elementary Student Teachers, I was entrusted by Ma’am Abawag to take the lead. She was on her maternity leave.
Again, while designing the office of Mrs. Abawag, I was then told by Ma’am Soriano, Grade V adviser, to make the program for the incoming Christmas Party. I assigned each student teacher to their respective duty like committee for sound system, venue and hall preparation, program, etc. Ii was not difficult for me since I have already experience to manage a program during my undergraduate years. Dr. Espejo trained us to manage an art program and Dr. Artuz always gave us activities like variety shows.
When we were done with the tasks, we proceed to hall preparation. We make the elementary pavilion so colorful and creative. Some were busy putting up colorful curtains while I was designing the board using colored chalk. The teachers were so admired of my skills in arts especially in lettering. They told me that when they were like me, they were also good in making some curls of letters.
I just told them, ‘Ma’am Yen and I is a good match’. Ma’am Yen is very active in school program, very creative (when there is no student teacher in the elementary, she is the one who design everything), and most especially, she is very responsible.
One thing I will never forget this day, a teacher must be a man of crafts. You should have a lot of skills.
